Installing the Focus Compliance Recorder app
This guide is for Microsoft Teams administrators. It takes you through adding the Focus Compliance Recorder app to Teams, choosing who gets it, and pinning it so it's ready for your users without them having to look for it.
The app is awaiting Microsoft's approval for the Teams store. In the meantime, you can install it yourself in the Teams admin center using the app package we provide, and push it out to your users. That's what this guide covers.
Before you startβ
You'll need:
- Access to the Microsoft Teams admin center with permission to manage apps, such as the Teams Administrator or Global Administrator role.
- The app package from Subphonic, focus-teams-app.zip. Upload it as it is, without unzipping it.
There are three stages:
- Upload the app
- Choose who can use it
- Pin it for your users (recommended)
1. Upload the appβ
Upload the app
Add the Focus Compliance Recorder app package to your organisation's apps.
Sign in to the Teams admin center at admin.teams.microsoft.com. Expand Teams apps (1) and select Manage apps (2).
2. Choose who can use itβ
Next, install the app for the people who need it. You can install it for everyone, or for specific users and groups. In this example we install it only for a group containing our recorded users.
Choose who can use it
Install the app for everyone, or for specific users and groups.
On the app page, select the Users and groups tab (1). The app shows as Installed for no one. Select Install app (2).
3. Pin it for your usersβ
This step is optional, but we recommend it to keep things simple for your users. A setup policy pins the app so it appears automatically in their Teams app bar and in their meetings.
If you skip it, users who have the app installed can still find it themselves in the Teams app store.
You can update the Global (Org-wide default) policy, which applies to everyone not assigned another policy, or create a new policy with Add and assign it to particular users. In this example we update the Global policy.
Pin it for your users
Add the app to a setup policy so it's pinned in Teams automatically.
Under Teams apps, select Setup policies (1). Then select Global (Org-wide default) (2) to edit it, or select Add (3) to create a new policy.
4. Wait for the policy to applyβ
Policy changes can take a few minutes to reach your users. They usually show straight away in the web version of Teams, and a little later in the desktop app.
If the app hasn't appeared in the Teams desktop app within 10 minutes, contact our support team.
Next stepsβ
Once the app is installed, your users can sign in and start using it. See Using the app.
